The 90's saw Bollywood set a new benchmark in the Indian film industry. The movies and music it produced gave us some of the most memorable and iconic classics, which we continue to go back to, time and again.

No matter how old, songs from that era will always evoke endless memories of the past and continue to hold sentimental value in our lives. As a tribute to one of the greatest decades Bollywood has seen, two youngsters created a stirring 90's Bollywood mash up. While the ones they sang were reminiscent of the good ol’ days, we came up with our own all-time favorites. Here are our top picks to the era.

#1. Pehla Nasha – Jo Jeet Woh Hai Sikandar (1992): Forget everything else, no movie has a song that describes our first crush as well this song does. Pehla Nasha is so seeped into Indian pop-culture that it’s not just a song anymore, it’s an emotion.

#2. Saath Samundar Paar – Vishwatma (1992): Saat Samundar Paar’s main beat is from Heart by the English synthpop duo, Pet Shop Boys. The song, released in 1988, reached the no.1 position on the UK Singles Chart for three weeks that year.Sajid Nadiadwala bought the song rights of Saat Samundar and used it in Salman Khan-starrer Kick. The song plays in the background when Salman is dancing at a discothèque. Nadiadwala did this as a tribute to Divya Bharti, who was his first wife.

#5. Chura Ke Dil Mera – Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994): Chura Ke Dil Mera from ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, starring Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Shilpa Shetty in the lead roles. Directed by Sameer Malkan, the music has been composed by Rani Malik, Rahat Indori, Maya Govind. The lyrics of the song have been penned by Anand Bakshi. 

#6. Rangeela Re – Rangeela (1995): Urmila Matondkar was discovered by Ram Gopal Varma for his film Rangeela, where the actor played a young girl Mili who wishes to work in movies, that she gained prominence in the industry.
