Post the collapse of the Soviet Union, Bollywood movies had slowly disappeared from the big screens in Russia.

Munna Michael will be the first Bollywood movie to release in Russia after two decades. A Mumbai Daily quoted Kumar Ahuja, President Business Development, Eros, “We are happy to announce the release of Munna Michael in Russia. The film has mainstream appeal that transcends language and geographical boundaries”.
A lotta elder Russians have a liking for Bollywood and Raj Kapoor and Mithun were common household names a few decades ago. With the quality of Bollywood movies going up in recent times, the demand for our movies have increases overseas. A strong and a sizeable overseas Indian population also demand screening of Indian movies internationally.
