Aanand L. Rai, who is bankrolling the sequel to Happy Bhaag Jayegi, has planned to release the film 24th August, as the predecessor had also released in the second half of August. Happy Bhaag Jayegi was a sleeper hit of 2016.

“Happy Bhaag Jayegi starring Diana Penty released on August 19, 2016. And Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi will release on August 24, 2018. Mudassar’s debut film Dulha Mil Gaya released in January 2010, and it ended up being a flop even though it starred Sushmita Sen and featured Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo. Now, he wants to stick to the week after Independence Day to be safe,” a source reveals.
Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi stars Sonakshi Sinha along with Diana Penty, who is basking in the success of her last film, Parmanu. Actor Sonakshi Sinha has teamed up with Cocktail star Diana Penty for a sequel to the Penty’s 2016 comedy film, Happy Bhaag Jayegi. Sharing a teaser of the upcoming film, Diana spilled the beans on Twitter. Both Sonakshi and Diana play women who run away.

Happy Bhag Jayegi, featuring Diana Penty, Ali Fazal and Abhay Deol, was released in 2016. The romantic comedy narrated the story of a girl named Happy, who runs away from her wedding and reaches Pakistan by mistake. Diana features in the sequel too. She is joined by actress Sonakshi Sinha whose character also runs away from her wedding. Mudassar Aziz, who helmed the first part, is back on the director’s chair for the sequel.
