Tushhar Kapoor
If you are one of those who grew up watching or being witness to Ekta Kapoor's K serials then you would have defiitely been through the torture of Tushaar's guest appearances in those series. Ekta used to force her brother upon the audience ignoring the audience's sheer dislike for her untalented brother. We would rather prefer watching Paresh Rawal do a romantic song with Kareena than have Tushar Kapoor do that, look wise there ain't much of a difference but Paresh acts well and therefore would be bearable. Acting and Tushar Kapoor are pole's apart. No offence, but he is not conventiol
Azhar is a Bollywood Biographical Fim based on the life of India's former Cricketing Captain Mohd. Azharuddin who got entangled in Match Fixing Scandals. Starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, Azhar is an honest attempt to portal the life of Azharuddin.
The film opens with a disclaimer that it is a mixture of Reality and Fiction and that the characters are purely fictional. We wonder why do they call it a biopic then if it happens to be a work of fiction.
Casting is a major problem here. Emraan khan just can't act or talk or look like Azhar. Though he tries his best to do justice to his character, Emraan is hardly known for his acting skills. Expecting Emraan Hashmi to deviate from Kissing scenes and giving a "Dil ko Choo Leni wali" performance is too much to ask for.
The cricketing scenes in Azhar do not look realistic at all. Kunal Roy Kapoor does an okay job as Azhar's friend, Gautam Gulati plays Ravi Shastri - a womanizer. Lara Dutta does what she does best - Hams! and she overacts. Songs are pathetic and so is the background music. Cinematography is horrible as well. Dialogues are decent but the directly is full of flaws.
Final Words: If you are a cricketing fan than you must watch Azhar. For all those who like quality content, you guys can give this movie a skip.
The whole court case which tries to exonerate him in the movie, was in reality, about the ban on him by the cricket association and and not the actual match fixing, many cine-goers will not be able to realize this difference.
