Rajinikanth's 2.0 Director Confirms release date.

After a prolonged delay during post-production, director Shankar took to Twitter to announce the date 29th November 2018 for the release of 2.0. The sequel to the 2010 hit film, Endhiran, 2.0 is helmed by Shankar.

While the shooting had reportedly concluded in October last year, there was a delay on account of post-production work. The VFX of the film has been undertaken by Tau Films, the company that worked on the magnum opus Baahubali and its sequel. Directed by Shankar, 2.0 stars Rajinikanth in the lead role with Amy Jackson playing his pair. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is playing the main villain in this sci-fi thriller. Being the sequel to the 2010 hit film, Endhiran, 2.0 will have the Superstar in dual roles – Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti – the Robot. Others in the cast include Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Riyaz Khan.

Made on a very huge budget, somewhere close to Rs.450 crore, the film is being bankrolled by Subaskaran Allirajah under his home banner Lyca Productions. With a strong technical crew comprising the Oscar winning music director AR Rahman, cinematographer Nirav Shah and editor Anthony, the film has been written by Shankar and Jeyamohan.

2.0 would be Rajinikanth’s second film after his entry into politics. Kaala, directed by Pa Ranjith, released in June and was politically laden in its messaging. Rajinikanth's 2.0 will open in theatres on November 29 this year, director Shankar Shanmugham confirmed in a tweet. "Hi everyone, at last, the VFX companies promised the final delivery date of the VFX shots. The movie will release on November 29, 2018." Actor Akshay Kumar, who plays the principal antagonist opposite Rajinikanth in 2.0, reposted a tweet shared from the official account of Lyca Productions (the film's producers), and added: "Get ready for the ultimate clash, #2Point0 on 29th November 2018!" Of course, the Internet is excited and of course, the hashtag "#2Point0" was spotted on the trends list almost immediately after the announcement.
