Forty six bodies have been recovered from the wreckage of the ill-fated Pk-661 Flight of Pakistan International Airlines that crashed on Wednesday at 4:42pm PST. Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority confirmed there are no survivors from the ill-fated flight.
A government official on the scene told the Dawn News that all the bodies were beyond recognition. "All of the bodies are burned beyond recognition. The debris is scattered," Taj Muhammad Khan, a government official based in the Havelian region told the Dawn news.
An eyewitness, Jumma Khan, said, "The bodies we have taken out are in pieces. They are beyond recognition. We cannot tell women from men... they are just legs and arms."
Pakistani Singer Junaid Jameshed and his family were also on board this ill-fated flight. Jamshed shot to fame in Pakistan in the 1980s and 1990s as the singer for the Vital Signs rock group, and later launched a solo career, with a string of chart-topping albums and hits. His song "Dil Dil Pakistan" is perhaps the most popular patriotic song in Pakistan. He had given up glamour for religion.
He was scheduled to deliver the Friday sermon at Parliament mosque. He was a prominent member of Pakistan's Tableeghi Jamaat, a global Islamic revivalist movement urging Muslims to return to Sunni Islam.
Bollywood actors offer their condolences to the family members of Junaid and the deceased on board.
Rishi Kapoor tweeted, "RIP. My Condolences to the bereaved families of the PIA Flight crash. We lost an artist in Junaid Jamshed. May God Bless all! Ameen."
