Karisma Kapoor celebrates her 44th birthday : Few interesting things you didn't know.

Karisma started her film career at the age of 15. She was laughed off for the thick eyebrows she had in her initial films. She made her debut in 1991 with the Harish, who was from down South in movie Prem Qaidi. The movie did not garner enough audience views. But later in 1996, the movie 'Raja Hindustani' changed her fate. While the makeover of her looks were made for the film, the kissing scene in the movie with Aamir became very popular at that time.

How about knowing some facts about the 'Raja Hindustani' actress :
1. Karisma has appeared in over 50 films till date and most of them have been super hits. Karisma was known for her flawless skin, pink lips and bushy eyebrows when she started her career. But the actress underwent a huge transformation in her looks and appeal over the years. She was inspired by Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit in a real life, and it reflected in her acting and dancing.


2. The film that changed her image and gave her an enhancing makeover was Dil To Pagal Hai. Karisma was the second lead opposite Shahrukh Khan, with Madhuri Dixit as the female lead and their jugalbandi in dance in the movie is still remembered. She debuted in 1991 with the romantic film, ‘Prem Qaidi’. After that, she worked in Deedar, Jigar, Muqabla, Sangraam, Dulaara, Raja Bab, Biwi No 1, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and among other.

3. Karisma was seen most of the times with Govinda in a comedy, romantic films like Coolie No 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Prem Shakti, Dulaara, Andaz, Aatish etc. She worked most with superstars like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Sunil Shetty and many others.


4. Karishma and Ajay Devgan dated each other in 1994. But they never made any official announcement, though most of their films together flopped at the box office. Karisma married Delhi-based businessman Sunjay Kapoor. The couple has a son and daughter. Due to compatibility issues, they got separated. Karisma returned to Mumbai with their kids.

5. Karisma has won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). She also won Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film Raja Hindustani (1996) and Fiza (2000). She won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for the film Zubeidaa. Karisma was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film Shakti: The Power.

6. Karisma Kapoor too has turned down many film which came her way, that later went onto become big. She was offered Juhi Chawla's role in Ishq, Manisha Koirala's role in Gupt. She was also offered films like Asoka The Great and Talaash, which were later taken up by her younger sister Kareena Kapoor. Karisma also turned down Bride and Prejudice before the role went to Aishwarya Rai.
