Happy Birthday Daler Mehendi : The King of 'Bhangra' Celebrates His 51st Birthday

Daler Mehndi, The legendary Bhangra artist was born in a Sikh family of musicians who had been singing for seven generations and thus obviously singing was in his blood from the beginning. He was born in Patna on 18 August 1967. Daler Mehndi turns 51, as he celebrates his birthday.

With his Indian Classical background, Daler Mehendi started his musical career. His debut album Bolo Ta Ra Ra, Dardi Rab Rab and Balle Balle. This very song established him as a pop star. Daler Mehendi also worked for Big B’s movie Mrityunda for the song Na Na Na Re which was also an instant hit. Daler is credited for creating a new genre of music called Rabbabi which is a fusion of Sufi, Thumri and Rock. One of the most special track that he came up was Tunak Tunak Tun. The song is still a hit for his fans. People can’t stop dancing when the song is played in weddings and everyone demands to hit replay! The Punjabi Tadka song was very much hyped even on the internet.

Daler carved a slot for himself through his foot tapping and mesmerizing Bhangra albums and songs but this was not the end of the world for him as also went on to achieve fame as a singer in the Bollywood fraternity too. Daler is well known for his chart topping numbers like ‘Tunak Tunak Tun’, ‘Na Na Na Na Re’, ‘Kudiyan Sheher Diyan’, ‘Rang De Basanti’ among numerous others.
