GOLD Music Review: Melodic 7 Tracks

Gold is a mix of sports, drama and patriotism. Moreover, with Akshay Kumar leading the show for this Excel film and Sachin-Jigar coming up with a major score in collaboration with Javed Akhtar, one looks forward to what does Gold have to offer with as many as seven songs in there.

It is a melodic beginning for Gold as guest composer and lyricist Arko brings on 'Naino Ne Baandhi' . There is a definite sound that one experiences in songs coming from Arko and that is audible in 'Naino Ne Baandhi' as well which is a beautiful composition. If you have liked 'Tere Sang Yaara' [ Rustom ] then you would gladly pick up 'Naino Ne Baandhi' as well which has been sung quite well by Yasser Desai.

Sachin-Jigar take over the stage here as they come up with a celebration number 'Chad Gayi Hai' . A song where Akshay Kumar gets all drunk at a gala event in an up-market British club, 'Chad Gayi Hai' has Vishal Dadlani crooning this one with great energy on display.

Gold

Next to arrive is the kind of number that one was expecting in Gold all this while. With the right mix of sports and patriotism embedded in this Javed Akhtar written number, 'Ghar Layenge Gold' has just the right voice on display, what with Daler Mehndi being at his spirited best while crooning this one.

It is back to the 40s as the character played by Mouni Roy, Monobina, is introduced with the namesake number - 'Monobina' . A foot tapping number that has a Western theme to it which was prevalent in the era gone by, this one has Tanishk Bagchi stepping in as a guest composer. A good team of youngsters comes together in the form of Yasser Desai, Shashaa Tirupati, Monali Thakur & Farhad Bhiwandiwala and ensures that you are engaged right through the playtime of this number.

Now on it is Sachin-Jigar and Javed Akhtar show all the way as three back to back sports-patriotic songs follow. First to arrive is KK sung 'Khel Khel Mein' and this one is special since it is the theme sound of this one which plays right through the promo of Gold. This one has a grand feel to it

Sukhwinder Singh is always expected to step in a soundtrack belonging to this genre and hence it is not a surprise when his name pops up for 'Rasta Rasta' . An inspirational number, this one is strictly situational and should help the film's narrative move forward.

Same holds true for 'Jaaga Hindustan' which is the last song to make an appearance in Gold. This one could well have been tagged as an A.R. Rahman track had the credit details not been mentioned in the jukebox. 'Jaaga Hindustan' is a nice situational track that is rendered well by Divya Kumar.

OVERALL
As was expected, Gold does turn out to be a fulfilling track that has a mix of romantic, patriotic, celebration, sports based and vintage themed songs. Expect the soundtrack to become all the more popular on the basis of the film's run in theatres.
