So far, only 5 Bollywood movies have so far crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark in the first 3 days (Dhoom 3, Happy New Year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Sultan). Dangal becomes the 6th with Rs. 106.95 crore, Dangal beats the first weekend total of Rs. 105.53 crore and clocks in the biggest weekend total of 2016.
The steep high on Sunday (Christmas day) and the fact that smaller centres too have shown an impressive graph implies that Dangal has all that it takes to become the highest grosser of the year 2016.
Despite setting a national record it was still not the highest collection ever in Mumbai as the first day of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was bigger and so was the third day of PK but in the North it smashed all the records.
The final Overseas figures from various markets will come later in the week as it is holiday period Dangal is looking to be the second film to hit 200 crore Worldwide in its first weekend. The first was Sultan earlier this year and though the top are from this year, they are the only films from this year.
