Cough Syrup Promotion Puts Vidya Balan In Trouble

Vidya Balan's Tumhari Sulu did well at the box-office. It peformed well in its third week too, however If the latest reports are to be believed, Vidya Balan and the makers of the film could be facing legal action for endorsing a cough syrup. The film’s production house, T-Series and north India based pharmaceutical company, Torque maybe at the receiving end for not adding an advisory before endorsing. The report in a newspaper mentions that FDA commissioner Pallavi Darade claiming that the above advertisement violated 'basic norm of advisory caution'. 

In an advertisement, Vidya can be seen saying, “Sulu ke har safar mein uska saathi, Torex cough syrup ho, toh alvida khasi (Torex cough syrup supports Sulu through every journey of hers, so goodbye to coughs)”.

 FDA commissioner Pallavi Darade said the ad violated basic norm of advisory caution.
