The much awaited nominations for the 62nd Filmfare Awards 2017 are out now. Most of the people nominated are truly deserving. We analyze the nominations and tell you the names of people who we feel deserve this prestigious award. Here are the Filmfare Awards nominations honoring the best of Bollywood in 2016.

Best Film

  • Dangal
  • Kapoor And Sons
  • Neerja
  • Pink
  • Sultan
  • Udta Punjab

Going by Box Office collections, Dangal deserves to be a winner. If not Dangal, then Pink is surely worthy of a victory. Kapoor and Sons was an emotionally overwhelming film with class acting by the lead actors. Sultan may have a popular first half but the second half was dragged and boring. Dangal deserges to win.

Best Director

  • Abhishek Chaubey - Udta Punjab
  • Ali Abbas Zafar – Sultan
  • Karan Johar – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Nitesh Tiwari – Dangal
  • Ram Madhvani – Neerja
  • Shakun Batra – Kapoor & Sons

Ali Abbas didn't deserve a nomination here in the best director category. Abhishek Chaubey is worthy of this nomination. Karan Johar did an admirable job but the second half of ADHM was a bit boring. Nitesh Tiwari deserves it for Dangal thanks to Aamir Khan's inputs in the movie.

Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male)

  • Aamir Khan – Dangal
  • Amitabh Bachchan – Pink
  • Ranbir Kapoor – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Salman Khan – Sultan
  • Shah Rukh Khan – Fan
  • Shahid Kapoor – Udta Punjab
  • Sushant Singh Rajput – MS Dhoni: The Untold Story

For that cute and adorable role, Ranbir Kapoor definitely deserves this one. No point in giving it to Aamir Khan because he doesn't accept awards. Give it to the one who will be motivated to do even better. Aamir is a perfectionist and we know that he will continue his good work anyway. Ranbir Kapoor should get this award.

Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female)

  • Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – Sarbjit
  • Alia Bhatt – Dear Zindagi
  • Alia Bhatt – Udta Punjab
  • Anushka Sharma – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Sonam Kapoor – Neerja
  • Vidya Balan – Kahaani 2

Wonder what Sonam Kapoor is doing here! Acting ain't her forte, nevermind! The movie was a hit because of the storyline and the direction but Sonam Kapoor's acting left a lot to desire. Sonam anyway gets nominated for Filmfare. She was even nominated for the super flop horrendous movie "Dolly Ki Doli", so we ain't surprise that she has been nominated here as well. Let us discount her nomination and focus on the deserving ones. Alia Bhatt did a splendid job in Udta Punjab and she deserves a Filmfare Award for her performance.

Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male)

  • Diljit Dosanjh – Udta Punjab
  • Fawad Khan – Kapoor And Sons
  • Jim Sarbh – Neerja
  • Rajat Kapoor – Kapoor & Sons
  • Rajkummar Rao – Aligarh
  • Rishi Kapoor – Kapoor And Sons

Rishi Kapoor was super cute and funny in his role, esp when he practices for his death. His role was adorable and we would not be unhappy if he wins. Diljit Dosanjh is also a commendable actor cum singer. Fawad Khan's performance as gay in closet in Kapoor and Sons was memorable. Rajkummar Rao, as always, was outstanding in Aligarh.

Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Female)

  • Kareena Kapoor Khan – Udta Punjab
  • Kirti Kulhari – Pink
  • Ratna Pathak Shah – Kapoor And Sons
  • Richa Chadda – Sarbjit
  • Shabana Azmi – Neerja
  • Ratna Pathak and Kirti Kulhari are deserving.

Best Music Album

  • Amaal Mallik, Badshah, Arko, Tanishk Bagchi, Benny Dayal and Nucleya – Kapoor & Sons
  • Amit Trivedi – Udta Punjab
  • Meet Bros, Amaal Mallik, Ankit Tiwari & Manj Musik – Baaghi
  • Pritam – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
  • Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy – Mirzya
  • Vishal-Shekhar – Sultan

This is where Filmfare Sucks big time! Sanam Re was a chartbuster and topped the music charts for months and they neither felt it deserved a nomination in music nor singer category. SHAME!! Out of the ones nominated here, Udta Punjab and ADHM are deserving for this award.

Best Lyrics

  • Amitabh Bhattacharya – Channa mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
  • Gulzar – Aave re hitchki (Mirzya)
  • Gulzar – Mirzya (Mirzya)
  • Irshad Kamil – Jag ghoomeya (Sultan)
  • Kausar Munir – Love you zindagi (Dear Zindagi)
  • Late Shiv Kumar Batalvi – Ikk kudi (Udta Punjab)
  • Gulzar deserves it for Mirzya's title song.

Best Playback Singer (Male)

  • Amit Mishra – Bulleya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
  • Arijit Singh – Ae dil hai mushkil (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
  • Arijit Singh – Channa mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
  • Atif Aslam – Tere sang yara (Rustom)
  • Rahat Fateh Ali Khan – Jag ghoomeya (Sultan)

Is this a joke? 3 Nominations for Arijit Singh. It would be better if filmfare nominates more people to appreciate and encourage the talent that we have in our industry.

Best Playback Singer (Female)

Kanika Kapoor – Da da dasse (Udta Punjab)
Jonita Gandhi – Break up song (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
Neeti Mohan – Sau aasman (Baar Baar Dekho)
Neha Bhasin – Jag ghoomeya (Sultan)
Palak Mucchal – Kaun Tujhe (MS Dhoni: The Untold Story)
Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch – Kari kari (Pink)

Pakistani singer Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch and Kanika Kapoor were outstanding with their playback singing in their respective songs. It would be great to see any of these two ladies win the award.
