Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic Calendar and is observed by Muslims all over the world as a month of fasting to commemorate the 1st revelation of the Quran (The holy book for Muslims) to Prophet Muhammad. Fasting during Ramadan is regarded as one of the 5 pillars of Islam (The other 4 being Faith, Prayer, Charity and Pilgrimage to Mecca).
