Maverick filmmaker and director of National Award-winning film Haider, Vishal Bhardwaj rings in his 53rd birthday today. Vishal is known not only for directing remarkable films, but he is also a screenwriter, playback singer, music composer, and producer. Vishal made his Bollywood debut in the year 2002 with the film Makdee and won many accolades for his superior work.
On the occasion of his 53rd birth anniversary here we bring some of his remarkable workpieces which include, Maqbool, Haider, Omkara, Talvar, Drishyam and many others.
Rangoon: Rangoon was a period film set during World War II with the leading actress supposedly playing a character based on the life and times of Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia, Bollywood’s first original stunt-woman still remembered for her fiery roles in movies. The cast were Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.
Haider: Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Haider left an everlasting impression on fans. With its quirky and unique storyline, the film brought many laurels in its kitty. The film won the best actor, best supporting actor, best film direction, best choreography, Filmfare award for best art direction and many more awards.
Omkara: Vishal Bhardwaj's another extraordinary creation Omkara was an adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello. Omkara was also shown in Cannes film festival in 2006. The cast of Omakara included Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Naseeruddin Shah, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Konkona Sen Sharma.
Talvar: Irrfan Khan starrer Talvar was another interesting and suspenseful creation of Vishal. Talvar is based on a popular murder case of Noida in 2008.
Kaminey: Set against the backdrop of the Mumbai underworld, Kaminey follows a rivalry between a pair of twins, one with a lisp and the other with a stutter, over the course of a single day. Kaminey received widespread critical acclaim, with several critics and media publications placing it at number one on their listings of "Best film of the year". Since its release, the film has attained cult status.
Maqbool: Another Vishal’s creation starring Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah and others Maqbool is one of his interesting projects. With the collaboration of eminent stars and director, the film became one of the popular films in 2003.
