Fanney Khan failed to leave a mark at the box office. After a poor start at the ticket window on Friday, the film has failed to impress in its first weekend.

The film just couldn't gather much of a footfall and the results were there to be seen in the all-around low response that the film has seen. It has been a very poor show for Fanney Khan all the way as after a disastrous start [2.15 crore], as per early estimates the movie couldn’t do much over Saturday and Sunday either. The collections stayed on to be very low right through and as a result, the weekend number stands at a mere 7 crore*.

Directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan is a remake of the Dutch film, Everybody's Famous! It revolves around Prashant Sharma (Anil Kapoor), a failed musician, who is willing to do anything to make his daughter Lata (Pihu Sand) the next Lata Mangeshkar. But an overweight Lata has her own struggles. The desperate father kidnaps singing sensation Baby Singh (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), with the help of his factory-worker friend Adheer (Rajkummar Rao).

Audiences were not interested to check out what did Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao had to offer. Fanney Khan released alongside two other Bollywood films - Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Mulk as well as Irrfan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar-starrer Karwaan.
