Durga Puja, is the festival that rules the hearts of millions of Bengalis all over the world. Though predominantly celebrated in West Bengal, the ten days of glory and enjoyment is celebrated all over India. When it comes to Bollywood, as it is ruled by myriad Bengali stars, Durga Puja deserves a special mention in their otherwise hectic schedules. Being busy with shooting, endorsements and many such engaging work, Durga Puja is the time for them to chill and make merry with their family and close ones as well. This is the time when we all spread mirth, good wishes, and happy vibes all across, and when it comes to B town, all the celebrities hold this festival very close to their heart.

The Bong beauty of Bollywood, the hazel-eyed, Rani Mukerji has been away from the spotlight for quite some time, post her marriage and pregnancy, but she has appeared on the B-town scene again with her Hichki this year. She has, however, not kept herself away from the celebrations of Durga Puja. The Puja, organized by the Mukerji family, is the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja.

It is presently in its 71st year, and is taken over by Rani Mukerji’s mother, Krishna and by yeateryear actress Tanuja and her daughters, Kajol and Tanisha. There is a grand fashion show as the opening by Bappi Lahiri’s daughter Rema, and the festivities follow. As this puja has been passed on since generations, it is what we call in conventional terms, “gharoa puja” and it is just like any other cosy puja pandals that we get to witness here in Kolkata, so the nostalgia remains.

Vidya Balan, who is a true Bengali by heart, also loves this time of the year. She was seen attending Biswajit Chatterjee’s family Puja and her traditional Bengali attire definitely made us gasp a bit.

Sushmita Sen, who has definitely not forgotten her roots, celebrates this festival every year with great pomp. She is an ardent believer in the powers of Maa Durga and she has been seen visiting various pandals.

Famous singer, Abhijeet Bhattacharya is also the one who celebrates Durga Puja. He is the co-founder of the famous Lokhandwala Durga Puja Pandal. He plays a pivotal role in the organization of this Puja and organizes gala musical events with other popular musicians performing every day.

Durga Puja is a time, which fills all of us with positive energy and celebs of B-town also ensure that they utilize this time to the fullest to bring out their religious sides to the best!
