Amitabh Bachchan, India's first "angry young man" for his on-screen roles, is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema.

Amitabh Bachchan may be growing old but he has shown no signs of slowing down and has indeed been the perfect example of 'aging gracefully'. In an era starkly different from his time, the seventies, Bachchan still holds a firm place in the industry and commands a sense of power and respect that is unmatched till date. Here are some interesting facts about this amazing actor and Mega Super Star:

#1. Amitabh Bachchan is the first living Asian to have a wax model displayed at Madame Tussaud’s in London in June 2000. Later in 2009, another wax model was displayed in New York, in 2011 in Hong Kong and Bangkok, in 2012 in Washington DC and in 2017 in Delhi.

#2. He was awarded with Padma Vibhushan by The Government of India in the year 2015. The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award in India given for "exceptional and distinguished service."

#3. Amitabh’s voice is simply majestic. It’s his voice that can hypnotize millions of fans. The way he starts the television show and ends it with marvelous voice notes showing what an incredible baritone he has gotten is simply awesome. But it is quite an interesting fact about Amitabh Bachchan that it was this Baritone of his that got him rejected at All India Radio. Had he found his career there; imagine what Indian film industry would be deprived of.

#4. Amitabh’s second job was also in Kolkata as a broker. Before going to the movies, his last salary was Rs.1680. While in Kolkata, he had bought his 1st car that was second-hand Fiat.

#5. During the shooting of the 1983 movie "Coolie," he had a fatal injury while performing his own stunts. He had a splenic rupture and lost a large amount of blood, and immediately had a splenectomy. While he was hospitalized, it was reported that there was mile-long queues of well-wishing fans outside the hospital.

#6. Bachchan is the first artist in the history to have received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991, which was established in the name of Raj Kapoor, who is considered as "the greatest showman of Indian cinema."

#7. Even though he has crossed 70; women still go crazy over him and many of the Bollywood actresses have commented him to be hottest actor in Bollywood. But for Amitabh; there is only one actress whose beauty has made him her fan and that is Waheeda Rehman. Not only he is a fan of Waheeda Rehman; she is the only actress in Hindi Film Industry whose beauty he has praised openly in an interview.

#8. He launched a multi-faceted commercial enterprise known simply as Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited, or ABCL, engaged in production, distribution and all other aspects of the entertainment industry, on his 61st birthday.

#9. Like in films, Big B was also a trendsetter on the small screen. At the time when movie stars shied away from appearing on television, Amitabh Bachchan took up the challenge of hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati. Television viewing was never the same again.
