Over the years, many directors of Bollywood have come forward to pay their tributes to the legendary revolutionary, Bhagat Singh and showcased all the ups and downs of Singh’s life.

Bhagat Singh is one of India's most famous freedom fighters and is considered to be one of the most influential revolutionaries. However, his influence was not limited only to the Indian independence movement, but Bollywood as well! Over the years we have seen several filmmakers who have made films on Bhagat Singh's life. As today happens to be Bhagat Singh's birth anniversary, we bring you Bollywood films that were made capturing the life and times of the freedom fighter.

#1.Shaheed-e-Azad Bhagat Singh (1954): This is the first film based on Bhagat Singh's life. The movie was directed by Jagdish Gautam and had Prem Abeed, Jairaj, Smriti Biswas and Ashita Mazumdar playing lead roles. Very Few people know about this movie, but its a classic movie and if you can get the DVD of Shaheed-e-Azad Bhagat Singh, then you Must watch this Movie.

#2.Shaheed Bhagat Singh (1963): Ten years after Shaheed-e-Azad Bhagat Singh was released, Shammi Kapoor appeared in Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The film was directed by KN Bansal and besides Shammi Kapoor, the movie starred Shakeela, Premnath, Ulhas and Achla Sachdev. The lead role was played by Shammi Kapoor with Shakeela, Premnath, Ulhas and Achala Sachdev. Film was not very known to us but still a Good watch if you are looking for movies based on Bhagat Singh’s Life.

#3.Shaheed (1965) Starring Manoj Kumar, this film was immensely popular. The film won awards for Best Feature Film in Hindi, the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration and Best Story Award at the 13th National Film Awards. The star cast of the film includes, Prem Chopra, Kamini Kaushal, Pran, Iftekhar, Nirupa Roy, Madan Puri and Anwar Hussain. Shaheed was a Superhit Film of 1965 and its Patriotic Songs are still very Popular.

    

#4.Shaheed-E-Azam (2002): Shaheed-e-Azam was one of the three films released in 2002 based on Bhagat Singh's life. The main lead in the film was performed by Sonu Sood with Raj Zutshi, Dev Gill and Ron Sladczyk. Movies was released in 2002 with other two movies based on Bhagat Singh.

#5.3rd March 1931: Shaheed (2002): Starring Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh this move depicts the events leading up to the hanging of Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and his companions Rajguru and Sukhdev. The lead roles were performed by Bobby Deol as Bhagat Singh and Sunny Deol as Chandrashekhar Azad. Amrita Singh and Aishwarya Rai were also part of the film. This movie shows that, How Bhagat Singh’s Life turns and how he decided to spend his life for freedom of India.

#6.The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002): This film shows in detail how Singh came to develop his views on the British Raj and his struggle for Indian independence. The Legend of Bhagat Singh is the third film of Same year based on Bhagat Singh’s life, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Coincidentally, 23rd March 1931: Shaheed and The Legend of Bhagat Singh were released on the same day and both failed. The lead actor, Ajay Devgan played Bhagat Singh in the film, with  Sushant Singh and Ian Davies.

#7.Rang De Basanti (2006): This film became a huge hit among youngsters and has won several awards. Starring big stars such as Aamir Khan, Sherman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor among others, the film is about revolutionaries of Singh's era. It covers Singh's role in the Indian freedom struggle.  The story of the film is quite different and its not a movie based on Bhagat Singh’s Life, This movie shows how the life of normal Student of Delhi University changed after a Documentary film on Bhagat Singh Chandrasekhar Azaad and other Revolutionaries. Its a Must watch Film for young Generation.
