The first posters of Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Mulk have been lately dropped by the makers. The posters were shared on the official Twitter handles of Rishi Kapoor and film trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Thursday. Going by the poster, the film looks like a full-fledged courtroom drama following the league of Jolly LLB 2, Pink, No One Killed Jessica and Damini. The shooting of the film took place in Benaras and Lucknow. It is the first time Taapsee Pannu is sharing screen space with Rishi Kapoor.
The teaser claims that the drama is based on a series of true events in which a Muslim family based in Varanasi is accused of treason. Prateik Babbar, whose role had been kept under wraps so far, makes an appearance as another accused being taken to jail in a police van. The teaser has an obvious patriotic fervour to it with Taapsee delivering dialogues about what it really takes to become a nation.
Mulk also marks Anubhav Sinha's return to film direction who had last helmed Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor's superhero film Ra.One in 2011. Produced by Deepak Mukut and Sinha, the film is slated to release on 3 August, 2018.
Based on real life incidents, Mulk boasts of stellar star cast including Rishi Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Prachi Shah and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. Rishi Kapoor will be essaying the role of Murad Ali Mohammed, for whom Taapsee Pannu will be fighting at the court as his lawyer. The lead actor Rishi Kapoor as Mohammed is seen facing atrocities in the hands of his own people while his family members try to defend him.
