Dhadak is a musical romantic drama film directed by Shashank Khaitan, produced by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios and starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles. The film is based on Romeo and Juliet. Earlier Hindi films based on this theme, all of them have been a success be it Ishaqzaade, Goliyon Ki Raas Leela... Ram Leela, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and even the Original Marathi language film Sairat, which is the source material for Dhadak.
The music of the film is already a hit. The title track, Zingat is climbing the charts. Shashank Khaitan the Director of the film has a 100 percent success rate so far. His last two films Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania were both critical and commercial success.
For those still unaware, Jahnvi Kapoor is the daughter of late legend Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor. Ishaan Khatter is actor Shahid Kapoor's half-brother, who made is big screen debut as a lead actor earlier this year in Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds.

The film is a directorial debut of Ahsan Rahim, who is known for directing the music videos and television commercials with several Pakistani artists under his Tadpole Films. It stars Ali Zafar and Maya Ali; both will also make Pakistani film debut through it. It will also be the debut film under Zafar's banner Lightingale Productions.
