Anupam Kher will be seen playing Manmohan Singh in a film adaptation of 'The Accidental Prime Minister', a 2014 memoir by Indian policy analyst Sanjaya Baru.

The first poster of Anupam Kher's biopic on India's former Prime Minister 'Manmohan Singh' is out now. Titled 'The Accidental Prime Minister', the movie is an adaptation of the book 'The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh', a 2014 memoir by Indian policy analyst Sanjaya Baru, who was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's media advisor from May 2004 to August 2008. The book alleged that the former Prime Minister was not entirely in charge of his cabinet or even the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Instead, significant power was wielded by the Congress party's president Sonia Gandhi, to whom Singh was completely "subservient".

Actor Anupam Kher has been roped in for the film adaptation of Sanjaya Baru’s controversial book. The actor took to twitter to share the first official poster.

Twitterati couldn't stop themselves from taking a dig at Manmohan Singh.

In an interview to The Economic Times, Anupam Kher said, “Acting the role of anyone in contemporary history is extremely challenging, as comparisons are bound to be instant and inevitable. But as I have always revelled in challenges, right from my first film Saaransh, I look forward to the experience of portraying PM Manmohan Singh".
