Upcoming

The trailer for the much awaited 2.0 has been released, amidst much fanfare, at a launch event at Chennai’s Sathyam Cinemas. The film has been shot in 3D. The trailer was shown at the launch event in 3D, along with 4D sound technology.

Birds are seen flying, and as the trailer shows us how we are slaves to technology, it quickly turns dystopic. A big bird is seen flying over, covering the city in its shadows and destroying property. Here Akshay Kumar is introduced, as an evil force of mobile phones, calling each mobile phone owner, a murderer. A man wakes up to realise that his floor and walls are made of phones. Now Chitti reloaded, Version 2.0. is shown as evil shape-shifting force come face to face in a football field, as an army of phone soldiers try to take over, and take on an army of Chitti robots. The nearly 2 minute-long trailer is packed with Rajinikanth's superhuman on-screen antics and shows Chitti's epic face-off with Akshay's cellphone-hating mutant scientist.

After Kaala, everyone’s favourite Rajinikanth is ready to steal away hearts with his Chitti version 2.0. In the trailer of the film, the star romances, fights the bad guy and promises to set things ablaze in true-blue Rajini style. With Shankar’s 2.0, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is making his foray in the south Indian film industry. And from the looks of the trailer, this venture will prove to be successful for the actor.  Then, of course, there is the shot where we see Chitti battling an army of robot-like creatures, a segment of which had been shown in the teaser as well.

2.0 which has been made on a mammoth budget, and has been produced by Lyca Productions. 2.0 brings Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, and director Shankar together for the first time and is a sequel of 2010 film Enthiran, which had released in Hindi as Robot. 2.0 will have the Superstar in dual roles – Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti – the Robot. Others in the cast include Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, and Kalabhavan Shajohn. This VFX extravaganza had over 15 studios from across the globe simultaneously working on different portions. The film’s release has gone through several delays at different stages, pushing its release date by several months. AR Rahman composed the songs for the background score by him AR Rahman and Qutub-E-Kripa. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on November 29.
