Sultan begins with organizers planning the revival of Pro Takedown wrestling tournament. Organizers feels that indians don't follow this sport because there ain't no indian of international caliber. Organizer Gyaan insists that Sultan is the only hope to revive this game and that they should get him to the ring to compete with international players. Gyaan sends his son Aakash (Amit Sadh) to get Sultan back to ring
Flashback and Sultan falls in love with wrestler Arfa (Anushka Sharma) and becomes a wrestling champion before marrying her. He goes on to become a world champion but is not able to handle fame with grace and becomes extremely arrogant. This arrogance leads to a tragic incident and Arfa and Sultan decide to part ways.
Fast forward to present day and Aakash convinces Sultan to get back to the ring under Randeep Hooda’s training and get back to his old winning form and win back Anushka’s lost love. Sultan gets sponsored by Kulreja Pressure Cooker company from Lajpat Nagar :p
What works for Sultan is a good story, beautiful music and of course Salman Khan. The cinematography is great. Songs are entertaining. Dialogues are awesome like Salman to an old man “teri body ki dish purani but channel naye naye”. It does have a lotta drama and many funny moments. Anushka Sharma acts very well but doesn't appear convincing enough as a wrestler. Randeep Hooda is just about okay as a trainer but is overshadowed by Sallu Bhai in his scenes with Salman Khan. Randeep appeared as if he walked in for Sultan shoot right out of Sarabjit’s sets. Amit Sadh is brilliant. First half is very fast paced and extremely entertaining esp Salman's Kite chase and the following chase to woo Anushka. The second half has a lotta melodrama. Give yourself the Eidi you deserve on this Eid and watch Sultan in a cinema near you. This is Salman Khan’s best performance till date. Salman should get rid of the lover boy act as it doesn't suit his age. He should stick to a bit more serious roles like this which has a little bit of that naughty youthful side. This movie will definitely inspire the Indian Olympic Squad for Rio.
