A compelling idea in a half baked drama. The only thing 'Parsi' about Akshay Kumar in this movie is the name 'Rustom'.

The much awaited Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom has finally released. Bollywood movie Rustom is based on the real life incident of Indian Naval officer Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati who was tried for the murder of his wife's lover Prem Ahuja.

Bollywood movie Rustom tells us the story of decorated Naval Officer Rustom Pavri, who upon returning to Bombay find his wife had an extra marital relationship and decides to shoot her lover. What follows is an almost 3 hour long courtroom drama with twists and turns.

Esha Gupta plays the vamp who is always wearing an inappropriate body-hugging gown with a comically long cigarette holder. Illeana De Cruz only does two things in this movie, she smiles and she cries.

Sachin Khedekar is wasted as a lawyer. Usha Nadkarni playing Rustom's maid acted well though..

The first half is boring, the second half has more vigor. But the world in Rustom never truly comes to life because the characters in Rustom don't seem authentic. Akshay Kumar's acting is decent, it will not disappoint his ardent fans.

Rustom could have been much better had the screenplay not been so utterly conventional and unimaginative. The weakest part of Rustom is the treatment of the story. We go with two stars
