Audience Review

A well presented movie countering various stereotypes present in our orthodox society like gender discrimination, early marriage of girls and how uncomfortable do people feel to the societal changes made by small group of individuals. Read more....

The story is about a male national player Mahavir Phogat and his two elder daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat. Being lived in gender based discriminated society, initially he aspired for a male child so that he could be a wrestler like him and but wins gold for the country on an international level. As person he is quite matured, calm and god fearing person who did not involve himself and his wife Daya in ill methods of having a male offspring.

Within this while he brought up his children as whole including more children other than Babita and Geeta along with their cousin with full dignity and happiness but his desire remained unfulfilled. One day he noticed immense potential in his both daughters to be potential wrestlers and he started training them. He fought with entire society against their rebel and even faced criticism within his family but he continued working on polishing his daughters’ capabilities. He coached his elder daughters and because of him latter could become national wrestlers and started their journey to fulfill their father’s desire.

Aamir Khan played his role quite well by breaking presumed characteristics of Bollywood actors of being bodybuilder rather he put on a lot of weight and adopt various traits of being a desi amateur wrestler in order to give sense of reality to his character and break the conjectures of Indian Actors being cool, attractive and charisma which is quite commendable.

Playing her role as Daya (Mahavir Phogat’s Wife), Sakshi Tanwar also did justice to her character and left good impression on audience as always. As far as role of daughters are concerned both the pairs have done immensely well and have given their glimpse of their acting skills. They are looking in-depth to the characters and have undergone a lot of training so that they could match International players in terms of looks, physique and stamina.

The movie is a blend of funny, serious and quite a few emotional movements where importance of family bonds has been shown, how father coached his children and stood up for the injustice against his daughter. It is value for money and well connected to the audience though the movie was based on biopic and most important has given us some to take home. It is more than once watch and stands out from all the biopics till now especially, some recent based on same sport type. Overall Dangal is quite a well presented movie which counters various stereotypes present in our orthodox society like gender discrimination, early marriage of girls and how uncomfortable do people feel to the societal changes made by small group of individuals. It is about how masculinity is being endanger when women tried to adopt even the physical attributes and how it is being not encouraged rather discouraged especially, when women try to get into male dominated sector like sports.
