Singer-songwriter Leona Lewis says she wouldn't have done well in a band, and enjoys being a solo artist.

Singer-songwriter Leona Lewis says she wouldn't have done well in a band, and enjoys being a solo artist.

"When I was about 16 I did audition to be in a girl band, but I didn't make it! Which is lucky because I don't think I would have done well in a band," said Lewis.

"I enjoy being a solo artist, I like my alone time. In a band you must be someone that always wants to be around people and someone who really thrives in that environment," added "The X-Factor" singing sensation.

Lewis won "The X-Factor" in 2006, and continues to be one of its most successful ever contestants. At the moment, she is associated with "The X Factor: The Band" as a guest judge. The show airs in India on Vh1.

With Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger as judges, "The X Factor: The Band" aims to create the next big girl or boyband.

Talking about the judges, she said: "I think it's a really great dynamic between those two. Simon has been part of huge bands: he was part of putting together Five, and he put together One Direction. He obviously has a tried and tested track record. He knows how to nurture them and make them successful.

"Nicole is from a band which was formed on a show like this, so she has a lot of knowledge she can pass onto these aspiring artists. They both have very different backgrounds that they're coming from and both bring a lot. But you know what, you know Simon, he always winds everyone up. He winds Nicole up and she bats him off! We make fun of each other and have a laugh," she added.
