TV host and actor James Corden has slammed comedian Bill Maher over recent remarks about overweight people.

TV host and actor James Corden has slammed comedian Bill Maher over recent remarks about overweight people.

Last week, Maher joked about obesity on his show "Real Time with Bill Maher".

"Being fat isn't a birth defect. Nobody comes out of the womb needing to buy two seats on an airplane. We have gone to this weird place where fat is good... Fat-shaming doesn't need to end, it needs to make a comeback. Some amount of shame is good," Maher said.

Now, on Thursday's episode of "The Late Late Show With James Corden", the show host declared it was a "common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy", reports "variety.com".

"There's a common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy, and we're not. We get it, we know. We know that being overweight isn't good for us and I've struggled my entire life trying to manage my weight and I suck at it. I've had good days and bad months. I've basically been off and on diets since as long as I can remember and, well, this is how it's going," Corden said, and pointed to his body.

"We're not all as lucky as Bill Maher. We don't all have a sense of superiority that burns 35,000 calories a day," Corden added.

The host also pointed out that fatshaming was a kind of bullying.

"It's bullying. And bullying only makes the problem worse," Corden said.
