The treacherous heights of Siachen will be captured by India's first-ever celebrity expedition comprising of nine stars from Bollywood, Television and Sports World to salute the spirit of the Indian Army.
Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal, Arunoday Singh, sports personalities like cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh and Hockey player Yuvraj Walmiki, TV star Rannvijay Singh, Namrata Gujaran, Hasan Zaidi, Shlok Sharma and Sonnalli Seygall are in this select squad.
The 20-day expedition will be flagged off this Independence Day from Leh and will culminate at Kumar Post. Kumar planted the India flag on the Siachen Glacier in 1981 and became the first person to scale the uncharted Siachen.

About Siachen: The Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayan Mountains. Siachen is the longest glacier in the Karakoram and 2nd longest in the world's non-polar areas. Siachen falls from an altitude of 5,753 m (18,875 ft) above sea level at its head at Indira Col on the China border down to 3,620 m (11,875 ft) at its terminus. The entire Siachen Glacier, with all major passes, is currently under the administration of India since 1984, while Pakistan controls the region west of Saltoro Ridge with Pakistani posts located 3,000 ft below 100 Indian posts on Saltoro Ridge. The average winter snowfall is more than 1000 cm (35 ft) and temperatures can dip to −50 °C (−58 °F). Including all tributary glaciers, the Siachen Glacier system covers about 700 km2 (270 sq mi).
