King Khan will open the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) today in Goa.

The 48th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2017) has a star-studded line-up for the event. While Shah Rukh Khan is set to open the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) today, his friend and colleague Salman Khan will bring down the curtains on the 48th edition of the festival here. Salman will close the Film Festivala, which kick-starts today, on November 28.

Shah Rukh Khan along with the Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar, will inaugurate the opening ceremony of the festival. Actors Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are also expected to attend the event.

Bollywood actress Sridevi will inaugurate the Indian Panorama section of the festival on 21 November. On the same day, IFFI 2017 Country Focus on Canada will be celebrated with a grand red carpet opening and amidst the presence of noted Canadian actors and celebrities.

IIFI's Indian Retrospective this year focusses on the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2016), K. Viswanath, a man who turned from being an audiographer to becoming a director, screenwriter and character actor who has made invaluable contributions in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu Cinema. His films not only have strong content, endearing narratives, honest handling, but also cultural authenticity, which has great appeal for the masses.

This year our film fraternity has lost some eminent personalities, and IFFI will pay homage and tribute to them and to their work, which lives on. IFFI will pay tribute to Om Puri, Abdul Majid, Vinod Khanna, Tom Alter, Reema Lagoo, Kundan Shah, J. Jayalalithaa, Dasari Narayan Rao & Ramananda Sen Gupta for their contributions to the film industry.
