Padmavati's release is uncertain after CBFC returned the movie without certification.

'Padmavati' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Central Board of Film Certification chief Prasoon Joshi will appear before a parliamentary panel today to discuss the controversy surrounding the period drama.

"The panel has asked Mr Bhansali and Mr Joshi to appear before it and present their views on the movie. They can present their case before the panel. The members have also decided to call the producers of the movie," chairman of the panel Anurag Thakur told on November 28.

It is still not proved that Padmavati was a real person. Historians are divided whether she actually existed. The Karni Sena has been strongly opposing the movie stating that the movie involves a dream love making sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. Alauddin Khilji is played by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone plays Rani Padmavati. Deepika has already received death threats.
