One of the most famous Qawwali Singers of Pakistan, Amjad Sabri has been shot dead by Taliban gunmen in Karachi.

Mr. Sabri was shot by two men on a motorbike as he drove through a congested area of Karachi.

According to reports, a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, Qari Saifullah Mehsud, claimed responsibility for the killing and said Sabri was targeted because the group considered his music blasphemous.

Amjad Sabri recently came into news for threatening to take legal action against Bajrangi Bhaijaan producers for stealing his father's song "Bhardo Jholi Meri Ya Muhammad".

Pakistani Actor Fawad Khan expressed his shock and offered his condolences to Sabri's family.
