Pakistan Censor Board Stalls Happy Bhag Jayegi's Release

Pakistani actress Momal Sheikh is upset with the Pakistan Censor Board delaying the clearance of Happy Bhag Jayegi. Read more.

Happy Bhag Jayegi is picking up in India thanks to the word of mouth and being a family entertainer. The movie has been bashed by critics but the audience across India only have positive words to say for the movie.


Happy Bhag Jayegi marks the debut of Pakistani actress Momal Sheikh who is popular in Pakistan due to her appearances in Pakistani TV Serials.

Momal is very upset that her movie is being held from being released in Pakistan. “A decision is still pending, so I’m just waiting for their response. It was a big day for me with a lot of mixed feelings; I’m excited yet nervous as it is my [Bollywood] debut film. I usually don’t complain nor do I [harbor] any negative [feelings] but this incident has really upset me,” the Dawn quoted her as saying.

The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) of Pakistan has objections over a scene showing Jinnah Portrait.

Audience in India who have watched the movie say that the movie does not depict Pakistan in bad light. In fact it only showers praises on Pakistani hospitality and the movie will strengthen the bond between the two countries.

The Censor Board of Pakistan saw the movie and did like it but they want to cut a minor part of the film. It was later reported that a ministry in Pakistan had objected to the film and this has caused to the delay in releasing the movie in Pakistan.

Directed by Mudassar Aziz and starring Ali Fazal and Jimmy Shergill, Happy Bhag Jayegi also stars Pakistani actors Javed Shaikh and Momal Sheikh. The film also captures scenic locales outside Lahore.
