On Tuesday, after the Supreme Court on Tuesday reprimanded politicians for speaking against the film before the Censor Board could see and certify it, the makers of Padmavati started pinning hopes for a February release.
There were rumours that the movie may end up clashing with Akshay Kumar's Padman. While the release date is yet to be locked in, sources close to Viacom 18 rule out the possibility of Padmavati clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Padman on January 24.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is working relentlessly on the post-production and remix. Everyone associated with the film has been asked to be discreet. Several states in India have already banned the movie after the Karni Sena protested against it. Karni Sena claims that the movie wrongly depicts history, however historians are still divided over actual existence of Rani Padmavati. Many claim that the character is just a fictional one and never existed for real. Karni Sena, however claims that the character was real and that one of the scenes in the movie shows Padmavati making out of Alauddin Khilji in a dream sequence. This has sparked protests, but makers confirmed that no such sequence is there in the movie.
