Indo-Chinese movie Kung Fu Yoga is breaking Box-Office records in China. The film totaled $179.5 million in 10 days, making it Jackie Chan's highest-grossing film in China's market. Read more.

The movie didn't receive great reviews or box-office response in India as much as it did in China. In China, the state film regulators temporarily banned foreign films to give their local movies more room to cash in.

The Jackie Chan action caper “Kung Fu Yoga” fared best last week, with $140.4 million in ticket sales, according to film industry consulting firm Artisan Gateway. The film totaled $179.5 million in 10 days, making it Jackie Chan’s highest-grossing film in China’s market.

The movie didn't open to well in the Chinese market but a strong word of mouth change its fortunes. The film, based on a classic Chinese novel, set a single-day record of all time in China, hitting $51.8 million (356 million yuan) on Jan. 28. It outran the former record holder “Fast & Furious 7,” which was released in 2015 and racked up $49.5 million (340 million yuan) on its opening day in China.
