Bollywood director Rakesh Roshan thanked legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on social media. Read on to know more.


Bollywood director/actor Rakesh Roshan thanked singer Lata Mangeshkar on Twitter. He thanked her for remembering his father's birthday. Lata Mangeshkar recently paid her tribute to Roshanlal on Twitter. On his Birthday, she tweeted, "Namaskar, Aaj main mahaan sangeetkar Roshanlal ji ki janm shataabdi hai. Main unko aur unke sangeet ko naman karti hun."

Rakesh Roshan thanked the singer for her kind words and Tweeted his thanks with a Lata Mangeshkar song composed by his father. He posted, "Lata didi aapne yeah kahakar saabit kar Diya 'rahein naa rahein hum mehaka karange' Roshan parivaar aapka abhari hain hamesha".

Roshanlal Nagrath, was born on July 14, 1917 in Gujranwala, Pakistan (then a part of British India).

In 1948, Roshanlal arrived in Bombay to find work as a Bollywood Music Director and became the Assistant of Music Composer Khawaja Khurshid Anwar in film Singaar. He struggled until meeting Kidar Sharma, who gave him the job of composing for his film Neki aur Badi (1949). Though the movie bombed at the Box office, Roshanlal emerged as a player on the Hindi film music scene with the film Baawre Nain, released the following year.

He shot to fame in the 1960s with his superhit music compositions. During this time Roshanlal gave Bollywood hits such as Na to karavan ki talaash hai from Barsat Ki Raat and Zindagi bhar nahi bhoolegi woh barsaat ki raat (Barsaat Ki Raat, 1960), Ab kya misaal doon and Kabhi to milegi, kahi to milegi (Aarti, 1962), Jo vada kiya vo nibhana padega, Paao chhoon lene do and Jurm-e-ulfat pe (Taj Mahal, 1963), Nigahen milane ko jee chahata hai and Laaga chunari mein daag (Dil Hi To Hai, 1963), Sansaar se bhaage phirte ho and Man re tu kaahe (Chitralekha, 1964), and Oh re taal mile and Khushi khushi kar do vida (Anokhi Raat, 1968). He composed some melodies for the movie Mamta (1966) with lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri, 'Rehte the kabhi jinke dil mein', Rahen Na Rahen Hum sung by Lata Mangeshkar and her hit duet, Chuppa Lo Yun Dil Mein Pyar Mera with Hemant Kumar.

Roshanlal died of a heart attack in Mumbai on November 16, 1967 at the age of 50.
