After being mired in controversies for a long time, the fourth film in the Housefull franchise Housefull 4 has been wrapped up. Akshay Kumar shared a photo featuring the entire cast of the comedy film and announced the wrap. He tweeted, “While we have called it a ‘wrap’ for #Housefull4, fun never ends..See you all in 2019!”
Supported by an ensemble cast including Kriti Sanon, Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Kharbanda, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Chunky Panday, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani and Rana Daggubati, Housefull 4 revolves around the theme of reincarnation. According to the makers, the film follows a non-linear narrative. The flashback sequences have been shot in Rajasthan and the climax was shot in Mumbai. Also, a few portions of the film were filmed in London as well
The film saw a couple of replacements during its filming. Nana Patekar was replaced by Rana Daggubatui and the chair of the director was taken by Farhad Samji in the wake of the MeToo movement. Earlier the film was helmed by Sajid Khan who stepped down from the role amid sexual harassment allegations against him.
Housefull 3 was released in 2016 and starred Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh along with Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon. The film did unexpectedly well at the ticket counters and minted over Rs 100 crore.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film is scheduled for release during Diwali, 2019.
