Filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi Hospitalized, Battling Cancer

Though celebrity donations have so far helped her keep up with the expensive treatment that costs around Rs 2.5 lakhs per month, she remains in need of financial assistance.

Kalpana Lajmi has been admitted to a hospital early today after her conditioned worsened. The ‘Rudaali’ director has been battling cancer of the kidney for several months. For about six months now, 61-year-old Lajmi, who was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney, has been bed-ridden and undergoing to dialysis every other day at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital. Aamir Khan, the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association, Rohit Shetty, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan, Neena Gupta and others have offered their financial assistance to the veteran filmmaker. The filmmaker said that the doctors have informed her that she will be discharged in the next "24 to 48 hours". We wish her a speedy recovery.
