Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan had a very poor Day 1 collections as it managed to gross only Rs. 3.5 Crore Nett even though Friday was a Holiday in India.
Collections of Begum Jaan are lower than OK Jaanu, Phillauri and Naam Shabana which were also dull on Day 1, but the only difference was that they didn't have the advantage of Friday being a Holiday. In comparison to them, Begum Jaan appears to be heading towards being declared a total flop at the box-office.
Even the reviews coming in ain't too positive and the poor word of mouth will only lead to a further dip in collections. Vidya Balan has lost her form and seem to be portraying same kind of roles. People are fedup seeing Vidya Balan in similar shades again and again. Hope she brings in some freshness in her next movie.
Begum Jaan was made on a budget of Rs. 19 Crore approximately and it is unlikely to recover the cost through box-office collections.
