ICC Cricket World Cup 1983 was held in England and Wales from June 9 through June 25. 8 international cricket teams participated in this event. While the Group A had England, Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, the Group B included West Indies, India, Australlia, Zimbabwe.

The first semi final was played between England and India on June 22, 1983 while West Indies took on Pakistan on the same day. India and West Indies played the final on June 25, 1983 and Team India, under the able leadership of Kapil Dev, won the match and went on to become the first Indian Team to win this prestigious cup.
