Sanjay Dutt's Bhoomi failed to impress at the box-office whereas a strong word of mouth and Oscar entry for Newton has helped it improve its performance.

Sanjay Dutt's latest Bollywood movie Bhoomi has opened to a poor response. The weekend wasn't impressive at all.

A few years ago, Sanjay Dutt starrer Department was a disaster, but the collections for Bhoomi are even worse than that film.The weekend collections of Bhoomi was just over Rs. 6.7 Crore.

Shraddha Kapoor's attempt to show her acting skills backfired with Haseena Parkar being a total washout at the box office. The movie managed to collect just over Rs. 4 Crore at the box-office.

Newton, a movie made with a relatively low budget, has been received very well. With Newton being India's official entry to the Oscars, curiousity about the movie has increased further and people are showing interest in watching this critically acclaimed movie. As per BoxOfficeIndia, "The film has not collected much but there was a huge upturn on Saturday and the film consolidated on Sunday. Newton collected appox. Rs. 7 Crore on Fri, Sat and Sunday."
