Junior MasterChef Australia contestant Dev Mishra says he wants to honour his legacy, and take the flavours of India on a global tour.

"I really love every cuisine, but my favourite cuisine is probably Indian food. I love to make it as well, and I've learned so much about Indian food from my mom, because both my parents are from India," Dev told IANS.

"They have brought so much knowledge about the food of India and I want to show all the different varieties of food from India," added the 13-year-old.

During his stint in the international show, Dev, who traces his roots to Bihar, impressed judges with a whiff of Indian aroma. He impressed the judges, Melissa Leong, Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo, in the signature dish round with his Lamb Mughlai curry with saffron rice, raita, chutney and smoked chicken kebab.

"That dish really represents me. Since it was a signature dish challenge, I thought that would be perfect to make and to show the judges. It was delicious, but more than that, it represented me and my heritage," said Dev.

Dev was eliminated in the semi-final round this year. The finale was won by 11-year old Georgia from Victoria.

Talking about his journey in the show, he said: "My experience has been really good. I got to meet so many new people and do so many new things. I just had such a great time and made such great friends."

Junior MasterChef Australia 2020 streams in India on Disney+ Hotstar Premium.
