Samay Thakkar, the voiceover artiste who brought alive Katappa in the Hindi version of the "Baahubali" films, says the character is no less than a lead in the franchise.
Katappa, played by Sathyaraj, is a loyal army chief of Mahishmati kingdom in the two-part period action adventure.
"Katappa's character is no less than a lead in the film. You can actually say that the film has two lead heroes - Prabhas and Sathyaraj. I never felt that I have played the second lead in the film. In fact, I loved being Katappa throughout," said Samay.
Sharing his fondest memories as a voiceover artiste for the SS Rajamouli directorial, Samay said that initially, Katappa was projected as a very serious character. However, the audience gets to see a contrasting image in the younger version of Katappa.
"The makers were actually concerned if I would be able to perform the humorous part of it with perfection like I did the serious part. However, being a theatre artiste, I gave my best and enjoyed doing the voiceover for Katappa," he added.
"Baahubali: The Beginning", which had released in 2015, will air on Sony MAX on July 11.
