We all know by now that Karan Johar is launching Sridevi's daughter Jhanvi Kapoor in Shashank Khaitan's Dhadak, which happens to be the remake of Marathi Blockbuster movie Sairat. Here are some little known but interesting facts about Marathi movie Sairat:
- Sairat was made on a budget of Rs. 4 Crore, however it grossed over Rs. 100 Crore worldwide and became the highest grossing Marathi movie of all time.
- Sairat was selected for the 66th Berlin International Film Festival and had received a standing ovation.
- Sairat actress Rinku Rajguru was awarded a National Film Award - Special Jury Award at the 63rd National Film Awards.
- Sairat performed so well in Satara, Maharashtra, that they had to add extra screens and play a special 3 AM show to cater to the audience.
- After the success of the film, all the employees who worked on-set were paid extra from the profits. The actors received 5 Crore each.
- The entire cast of Sairat consists of newcomers. The female lead Rinku Rajguru was in 7th Standard when she was selected for the role.
