The role of Nisha in Dil To Pagal Hai was first offered to Juhi Chawla. Juhi said, "I was apprehensive of taking a film (Dil To Pagal Hai) with Madhuri earlier, when we were all rising up in our careers. At that time I did not take on a film because she was in it." Talking about the film further, Juhi said, "I had just done Darr with Yash ji and was used to all the attention. So when I was offered Dil To Pagal Hai, I said I don't want to be second to her." She further adds, "That was not a clever decision of mine." It was indeed a stupid decision made by Juhi Chawla but it proved lucky for Karishma Kapoor. Karisma Kapoor won the National Film Award and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Nisha in Dil To Pagal Hai. In fact, Karishma Kapoor was never the original choice of Yash Chopra for the role. Initially the character was offered to Manisha Koirala and later on Juhi was approached for the same, but both the actresses rejected to role because they feared being overshadowed by Madhuri Dixit.

Juhi Chawla won the Best Actress FilmFare Award only once in her career. She won it for Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke in 1993. She played the role of Vyjanti opposite Aamir Khan.

Juhi Chawla has never worked with Salman Khan though both of them were the leading stars then. During her appearance on the chat show, Koffee With Karan, Juhi said, "There were events where we met and I would look at Salman and he would look at me as if he did not know who I was. There have been incidents where I really did not know what was going on in his mind. And because we never worked together I could not just pick up the phone and speak to him."

Juhi Chawla represented India at the Miss Universe Pageant held in Miami, USA in 1984. Though she failed to place in the Top-10 Semi-Finalists list, she did make India proud by winning the Best National Costume Award.

Rejecting the 1997 hit Dil To Pagal Hai wasn't the only blunder made by Juhi Chawla, she also rejected the 1998 blockbuster Raja Hindustani.
