Born on December 11, 1965 in Mumbai, Kimi Katkar did have a Bollywood connection. Kimi Katkar's mother worked as a junior artist in many Bollywood movies and played a pivotal role in shaping Kimi Katkar's filmi career. Kimi Katkar made her Bollywood debut in 1985 film Patthar Dil as a supporting actress and the same year also saw the release of her film Tarzan, where she portrayed the character of Tarzan's love interest. She was cast opposite Hemant Birje. Kimi was not known for her acting skills but for her bold and sexy appearances in her movies. She appeared in not so popular movies like Vardi, Mard Ki Zubaan, Mera Lahoo, Dariya Dil, Gair Kanooni, Jaisi Karni Vaisi Bharni, Sherdil and Zulm Ki Hukumat. Kimi Katkar hardly got any female oriented roles in her career.

In 1991, she appeared in the movie Hum, where she played the lead opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She portrayed the role of Jumma and the song Jumma Chumma De De went on to become the biggest hit of the year and of her career too. Post Hum, Kimi limited her Bollywood appearances. A few films later, she confined herself to being a conventional dancer, doing purely the song-and-dance routines in films that starred Govinda.

Kimi Katkar was offered a role in Rakesh Roshan's King Uncle opposite Jackie Shroff, but she refused. She also declined a role offered to her by Yash Chopra for his movie Parampara. Ramya replaced Kimi Katkar in Parampara and Anu Agarwal was cast in place of Kimi in King Uncle.

Kimi was romantically linked to Sanjay Dutt as also Danny Denzongpa but she called them just friends. Kimi Katkar fell in love with a commercial photographer and advertising film producer, Shantanu Sheorey and got married to him in the 90s. She has one son, Siddharth. She was settled in Mumbai till 2000 but she moved to Australia for her son's treatment. Post that she returned to India and settled in the city of Pune. She does a lot of creative things like Painting, Handbag making and social work. She does not want to get back to acting. She is now friends with MNS Politician Raj Thackrey. We will have to wait and watch if she continues to stay away from Bollywood. She sure has a lot of fans who would love to see their favorite actress back on the big screen.
