Review: 'Gul Makai': Malala biopic is half-baked fare
Om Puri's two-scene cameo is a dead giveaway. Since Puri passed away in January 2017, this film must be at least three years old. As the minutes pass, the incessant loud filmmaking that hits you has you wondering if this is some sort of a B-grader straight out of three decades ago.

Review: 'The Gentlemen': Stylishly mounted with anachronistic feel
Guy Ritchie's "The Gentlemen", with a adishonour-amongst-thieves plot', is an action comedy that's talk heavy, and has a seedy, anachronistic feel, more like a throwback to the films of the 1990s.

Review: 'Panga': Kangana and cast shine in feel-good flick
"Panga" is the sort of film you easily fall in love with. It has a stellar cast in fine form, is directed by a filmmaker who knows her business of storytelling only too well, and it manages to deliver a topical comment without getting too preachy about it. It is an entertaining film that effortlessly reaches out to the wider audience, and at the same time doesn't lose connect with basic cinematic aesthetics.

Review: 'A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood': Sweet and Therapeutic
The film treats its audience like little kids and addresses topics pertaining to feelings, life and death, gingerly with kid gloves.

Review: 'Just Mercy': Good performances lift this eye-opener
"Just Mercy" is a thought-provoking true story of a literal social-justice warrior, who highlights how corrupt the American system of jurisprudence is.

Review: 'Darbar': Rajinikanth shines in underwhelming film
"Darbar" is the kind of film that screams out loud that Rajinikanth, who recently turned 70, is in no mood to slow down, and this fact is established even more strongly via a couple of scenes. In one scene, when Rajinikanth is given an ultimatum to prove he is mentally and physically fit in a span of four days, we see him hit the gym and lift heavy. As funny as it is to see him strain to flex muscles, it's equally exciting to see him do what it takes to still stay relevant.

'Bombshell': Borderline satirical
Director Jay Roach's "Bombshell" is a competently made dramatisation of the fall of Fox News Head, Roger Ailes. It will be familiar to anyone who has been paying attention to the discussions provoked by the #MeToo movement and also to more women professionals, for that matter.

Cats: Unapologetically theatrical and lacks soul
This musical fantasy is an adaptation of the stage musical of the same name by Andrew Lloyd Webber which in turn had originated from TS Elliot's poetry collection, "Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats" that was released in 1939.
-

Directed by Andrea Di Stefano and adapted from Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström's best-selling novel "Three Seconds", the film is a gripping and compelling tale that is full of tense twists and turns.
